Winter Nap

Part of the Patreon set for December 2021!

Deep in the forest, with no footprints in sight, a traveler smells the faint aroma of smoke along their journey. They follow their nose to the mysterious smoke stack. Beside it, a tree, that looks strangely modified. Into... A door? Surely, no one lives in such a way? The traveler becomes overwhelmed with the mystery, the thought that someone's home could be out in the blistering cold nowhere of the forest. "What a cold and lonely place to live," they think, as they continue on their journey. They leave, none the wiser to the magic below of the elf girl and her many companions.

As many of my pieces, I wanted to create a visual of a place that sort of embodies a "feeling". There are many great illustrations of x-ray rooms underground, or in trees that inspired me to do one of my own. Often, they're spaces that don't make a lot of sense, like surely, living in such a place would be too impractical! Even though I feel like being grounded in realism can also give art a feeling of relatability. I enjoy the thought of a room filled with only that which I want to see. I hope you enjoy.
